Why do I need to Make an Image?

You don't need to make an image map but you've probably seen sites with them and thought "WOW...wish I could have that on my site" so just in case you are one of those who thinks they are great....I thought I'd help you make one just in case you wanted to.

There are several different image maps you can use.
a) One is having one large image with links all inside of the graphic
b) One is having a side strip of graphic links that match the set
c) One is having a graphic that slides into another when your cursor goes over it.
I'll be showing you how to make the first one...a large image with links inside the graphic.

Once you have the set made, all you need to know is how many links and text you will be putting on the image map so you can make the image map graphic big enough to put the text on it.

You need to make a set first, so I'm using the set I made here of the Yellow Rose. I've made the set and now I want to make it the main entrance page of my site so that it will be an easy navigational page to view my site. Here is the set Yellow Rose Set

The set is made, so you now can take a large graphic of the top you are using and make the width and height larger so that you can place the text links there. Once you have that done, add the text.

The above is now just one large graphic, but it is now ready to be turned into an Image Map.

If you like the look then begin by dicing the graphic so that each text will have a separate piece of the graphic so you can add the links to them.

The above map is using the table I prefer....which is to put all the graphics in one table.

It's a workable image map and you can click on any part of it to view the page it is linked to.

Some people use separate rows and columns for each graphic but if you can't tell the difference between the above Image Map and the One on the finished product Yellow Rose Image Map and the map has been linked to this site so it is clickable.
