How do I Design a Site?

Designing a site should be easy. I hope these tips help you to make it easy.
Once you have thought of a theme for your site, got the right site name, use the correct coding and found the right graphics, your site will begin to grow and become popular. You need to keep a handle on developing a site.  If when you first design a site you don't consider growth into your plan, it won't be long before your site is out of control.

You need to plan for the growth right from the beginning. Set up main pages of every section of your site. If you offer poetry, then poetry should have a main page. If you offer Stories, then stories should have a main page, etc.

Develop your site with growth in mind, then when it grows, you'll be prepared for it and have it under control.

What is important in Designing a Website?

Many things have to be taken into considerations when making a web site.

1) You must have an idea for a web site, one that others will find enjoyable to visit.

2 You must have a great name for your site because this is how you will become known on the web.

3) You must organize your site so that it is easy to navigate and people can choose which pages to visit.
There are many various ways to do this, either through Drop Down Menu or Java Scripting Navigational Menus.

Do's

1) Make sure you use the proper Meta Tags for your site. You can learn more about them here

2) Organize your site so that your visitors have the option of viewing pages they choose to.

3) Offer a site Map with a full listing of all pages on your site and what they are about.

4) Choose graphic sets that match your words on your pages.

5) If you are having trouble using a set with complicated coding from a Graphic Designer, ask for help. Usually you can just save the HTML page and then copy the coding and just add your own text in between and then link the buttons to your site.

6) If you want music on your site, DO make sure that your visitors can choose to listen or to turn it off.

7) Offer awards. It will not only increase traffic to your site, but your site will have tons of people linking to you and thus further increasing traffic to your site.







Dont's

1) DO NOT just put next buttons going from one page to another.  

2) DO NOT load the page with tons of graphics that take forever to load.

3) DO NOT use graphics from artists without their permission.

4) DO NOT put every link of your site on every page. This will create a large problem later on. Always remember, your site will be growing and the easiest way to manage that is to have a Site Map and a main page for each section of your site.
ie. Poetry.....should have it's own main page that way if you have to change, add or delete a page from your site, you only have to change one page.

5) DO NOT use blink tags to show up something special on your page. It is annoying and hard on the eyes. You can use Italics or a different color of font to get people's attention.

6) DO NOT use fancy fonts. Most people do not have a lot of fonts and asking them to download the font to view the site as you have it...is not only annyoying but you are assuming that the visitor has the time to download the font and install it while visiting your site...I don't think this happens at all on the web.
